Fort Worth, Texas – July 24, 2018 –  The iconic Ben Hogan Golf Equipment brand, founded in 1953 by one of the game’s greatest golfers,  is back … in Canada.  In timely fashion, 72 years after Ben Hogan captured his first and only professional victory in Canada – winning the Winnipeg Canadian Professional Golf Open in 1946 – and in conjunction with the 2018 RBC Canadian Open, the Ben Hogan Golf Equipment Company has introduced a complete line of new iron sets, wedges and accessories for golfers throughout Canada.

As part of its international re-launch, Ben Hogan Golf has created a unique factory-direct purchase and shipping program, whereby golfers throughout Canada can save significantly as compared to competitive products purchased through brick and mortar retail outlets.

Highlighting the 2018 Ben Hogan line of products are the new, re-engineered Ben Hogan Edge forged, game-enhancement irons, modeled after one of golf’s most successful iron sets and designed to provide the rare combination of ‘feel with forgiveness.’  In addition to the re-engineered Ben Hogan Edge irons, the complete 2018 line-up of Ben Hogan Golf products can be purchased exclusively at  www.BenHoganGolf.com.

3-Time PGA Tour winner J.J. Henry will be teeing it up with Ben Hogan Irons as he competes in the RBC Canadian Open, July 26-29 at Glen Abbey GC, Oakville, Ontario.

“72 years ago Ben Hogan captured his only professional victory in Canada, so it is only fitting that we re-introduce the iconic brand to golfers prior to the 2018 RBC Canadian Open,” said Scott White, President & CEO, Ben Hogan Golf Equipment Company.  “All Ben Hogan golf equipment … irons, wedges, hybrids and utility clubs … are hand-crafted, one at a time in our Fort Worth, Texas factory.  This allows us to maintain exceptionally high quality control levels.  Because we only sell directly to the consumer via our website, retail markup is eliminated.  As a result, our tour-quality products cost about half of what competitive products would be priced at in a pro or retail shop.  Even with international shipping costs factored in, customers throughout Canada will be able to buy Ben Hogan Golf Equipment at surprisingly affordable prices.”

Re-Engineered Ben Hogan Edge Irons

The original Ben Hogan Edge Irons, which were introduced thirty years ago, gained acclaim as the game’s preeminent ‘Game Enhancement’ irons. Many serious golfers played the Ben Hogan Edge Irons because they looked and felt like a player’s iron, but offered the same forgiveness and playability of an investment cast ‘game improvement’ iron designed for beginners and less skilled players.

In 2018, the Ben Hogan Edge Irons have been re-engineered with that same principle of providing exceptional feedback, as golfers can actually feel what they are doing, right or wrong, at impact, and minimize the effect of off-center hits. Now, golfers don’t have to choose between aesthetics and performance.

This feel principle is achieved through proven perimeter weighting technology, whereby engineers position weight around the edges or perimeter of the head to create more stability and forgiveness. Up until now, it has been nearly impossible for the golf industry to incorporate perimeter weighting into a single-piece forged iron.  However, the Ben Hogan engineering team answered the challenge and constructed the new Ben Hogan Edge Irons using two separate forged parts.  In achieving this innovation, the hosel and back frame are forged first, then the forged face is laser-welded into place.  While difficult to manufacture, this process allowed the design team to create and deliver exceptional perimeter weighting inside the club head.

Additionally, highly engineered, hollow head construction allows the thickness of the club face to be varied throughout the set.  The longer irons with stronger lofts have a very thin, yet strong face that promotes more distance, even on off-center hits struck on the toe or heel. The mid and short irons incorporate a progressively thicker face design which provides for a solid feel on scoring shots. As a result, and on average, the Ben Hogan Edge Irons are 12% larger than the tour-proven Ben Hogan PTx Irons. This creates a larger and more forgiving hitting area as shots that are struck closer to the toe or heel, or high or low on the face will perform much like they were hit on the sweet spot.

Also, the Ben Hogan Edge Irons are slightly offset. This provides more time for the hands to square up at impact. It also creates a steeper descent angle for higher shot trajectories that better hold the greens. A thicker top line creates an appearance of more mass in the club head which provides more confidence at address.

Further, enhanced V-Sole® Technology on the Ben Hogan Edge Irons benefits players of all skill levels. V-Sole Technology, which has long been a trademark of Ben Hogan irons and wedges, has been redesigned and ‘softened’ from sole to face, now combining a high bounce leading edge and low bounce trailing edge on the sole. This innovation minimizes ‘digging’ or ‘dragging’ to ensure solid impact, no matter the turf condition.

The longstanding Ben Hogan Precise Loft System has also been simplified in the new Ben Hogan Edge Irons.  The Company remains committed to consistent 4-degree loft gaps between each iron for optimal distance gapping and to minimize loft ‘compression’ at the short end of the set.

As with all Ben Hogan irons, the Ben Hogan Edge Irons can be customized at no charge. Golfers can select specific lengths, lies, and grips (standard or mid-sized) as well as their choice of a variety of steel and graphite shafts.

Until The Next Tee!!

Ben Hogan Golf Equipment Company Introduces New Ft. Worth BLACK Irons to Complement their Popular Ft. Worth Irons

Over the last several years (since 2015) there have been a few iron sets that have been standouts. A few of these were sets that I would game in a heartbeat. The Ft. Worth 15 irons from the Ben Hogan Golf Equipment Company are on that list.

There was a lot about them that I liked. Yes they performed well and yes the soles were so ominously narrow. Make no mistake about it… the Ft. Worth’s had forgiveness and I really liked the “scallop” on the rear of the head. When the ball left the face you were able to feel the “muscle” of  the Ft. Worth 15 irons.

In a press release shared by Read The Greens Golf Media the Ben Hogan Golf Equipment Company announced that they have released a new Ft. Worth iron… this time in black. The original Ft. Worth irons were stunning but these new irons look electrifying. I love the black heads and the paintfill really adds an aesthetic pop (as seen in the pictures). When it comes to irons and wedges I always love how a black finish looks. However, after some use they start to look shabby. The question that I have about these irons is simple. How durable is the finish?

Please read the press release below for more details.

Fort Worth, Texas – May 1, 2018 – Ben Hogan Golf Equipment Company, LLC, manufacturer of premium golf clubs, golf bags, and accessories adds the new Ft. Worth BLACK Iron to its ever-growing 2018 product line.  The new Ft. Worth BLACK Irons were developed as an extension to the highly successful Ft. Worth Irons.

The original Ft. Worth Irons were introduced in 2015 and are recognized for their feel, consistency and accuracy as well as forgiveness in a traditional blade design. They incorporate a number of technologies and engineering designs to provide the highly accomplished golfer a new level of performance.

The new Ft. Worth BLACK Irons are designed for the proficient player and employs many of the same technologies as the original Ft. Worth Irons, but with added features and improvements like the durable Diamond Black Metal (DBM) coating, optimization of the Dynamic Progressive Weighting system and modification of the V-Sole design.

More than just a pretty face. The patented Diamond Black Metal (DBM) coating is more than cosmetic. It has been developed for resilience and endurance and is seven times more durable than nickel chrome. This means less wear and tear on the grooves and scorelines and provides superior scratch resistance. The dark finish also reduces glare and provides a stark contrast between the ball and club head for better alignment.

“The new Ft. Worth BLACK Irons live up to their iconic name. They are a classic, striking iron that out-performs any other forged blade on the market and they are flat out stunning,” commented Scott White, CEO & President, Ben Hogan Golf Equipment Company.

Extensive player and machine testing proves the new Ft. Worth BLACK Iron generate a more penetrating ball flight on scoring irons, higher initial launch angles on long irons,  and better distance control on off-center hits than its predecessor. This is a direct result of the newly optimized Dynamic Progressive Weighting and Adaptive Perimeter Weighting Systems.  Ben Hogan’s engineers have optimized the size, shape and depth of the unique ‘Depression Cavity’ on rear of each club head.

The new Ft. Worth BLACK Irons also feature enhanced V-Sole® Technology. V-Sole Technology, the most versatile sole in golf,  has long been a trademark of Ben Hogan irons and wedges. It combines a high bounce leading edge and low bounce trailing edge on the sole and allows for easy manipulation of the club head no matter the lie without changing the loft. The bounce angles on the Ft. Worth BLACK Irons have been re-engineered slightly on each club head to eliminate any club head ‘grab’ by the turf, especially on less-than-full shots.

Finally, the Ben Hogan PreciseLoft System has been simplified in the Ft. Worth BLACK Irons. While the Company remains committed to consistent 4-degree loft gaps between each iron for optimal distance gapping and to minimize loft ‘compression’ at the short end of the set, Ft. Worth BLACK irons will only be offered in one loft matrix. The mid-high launch profile (22 to 46-degrees) is preferred by the vast majority of Ben Hogan iron players. Ft. Worth BLACK irons will be stamped with traditional numbers (#4 – PW) on the sole.

As with all Ben Hogan irons, the Ft. Worth BLACK Irons can be customized at no charge. Golfers can specify length, lie, loft and grips (standard or mid-sized) as well as their choice of a variety of steel and graphite shafts.

The Ft. Worth BLACK Irons are available for demo or purchase at www.BenHoganGolf.com exclusively. True to the company’s innovative Factory-Direct distribution and pricing strategy, the Ft. Worth BLACK Irons are sold direct-to-consumers for $700.00 per seven-piece set (#4 iron – Pitching Wedge) or $100.00 per club.
