The Great Lakes Tour, Canada’s leading developmental tour made it’s most recent stop in Stevensville, Ontario where Niagara Golf and Country played host to the GLT Niagara Open.

Waterloo, Ontario native and former standout of the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks Men’s Golf team fired an impressive two round total of 130 (-14) to win the event by five strokes over runner-up Freddy D’Angelo of Niagara Falls, ON.

Ryan entered the second round trailing first round leader Thomas Giroux by a single stroke. Riding a hot putter and taking advantage of receptive greens Ryan only had one blemish on his scorecard over the two days. His sole bogey came during the second round on the Par 4 393-yard 10th hole. An eagle on the Par 5 (16th) during the second round would provide all of the insurance that he’d need to take home the victory.

This was Austin Ryan’s second win during the 2022 Great Lakes Tour season. With the victory, Ryan took home $5,000 of the $15,500 purse.

Other notables were Freddy D’Angelo, Jake Scott (Strongsville, Ohio), current GLT Order of Merit leader Marc Casullo (Aurora, ON), Thomas Giroux (Georgetown, ON), Blair Hamilton (Burlington, ON), and Cougar Collins (Mono, ON)

Players are now shifting their focus and have their eyes set on Port Dover Golf Club and the 2022 Southern Ontario Open.

Until The Next Tee!!
