It just seems like when the Carlsbad, California-based golf equipment manufacturing giant (Callaway Golf) introduces a product with the name “Epic” attached to it, the product turns out to be quite… epic. I noticed this when the brand released the Big Bertha Epic in 2017, then there was a slight downturn with Rogue in 2018, Epic Flash was “lightning in a bottle” in 2019, and MAVRIK in 2020 was a product range that I was indifferent towards. Peculiar, right?!
2021 has been a tough year in a way because I haven’t been able to strike one club from this year’s Epic range of products. Thanks in large part to COVID-19 and no PGA Merchandise Show in 2021 as we typically know it. Where, on the Demo Day range you can swing every product available for the year. But based on my experiences above, it would be fair to suggest that this year’s Epic range has lived up to its name.

Callaway Golf has just announced a new stablemate to the rest of the Epic herd in the form of the Epic Super Hybrid. In short, these hybrids offer the playability and functionality of a hybrid but with the “DNA of a driver”. According to Callaway Golf, the Epic Super Hybrid is the OEM’s (Original Equipment Manufacturer) most technologically advanced hybrid that they’ve ever created. How did they accomplish this feat?
Starting with a titanium-constructed body, a “Flash Face” achieved through employing the use of A.I. (Artificial Intelligence) and a triaxial carbon crown, the Epic Super Hybrid has all of the makings of being a “big bopper” in a small package. Further bolstering the design of the Epic Super Hybrid is the use of “Jailbreak A.I. Velocity Blades” which stiffens the body, which in turn allows the face to flex for even higher ball speeds. The addition of “extreme tungsten weighting (up to 90 grams) located toward the perimeter of the club creates a potent combination of low CG and high-MOI for a high, powerful, and stable ball flight”. The high-MOI means that the potential is there for the Epic Super Hybrid to be a distance machine with no shortage of forgiveness.

Loft options for the Epic Super hybrid are 16°, 18°, 21°, 24°, 27° respectively and feature Steelfiber FC Hybrids (60/70/80) and Lamkin UTx (52g) grips as stock offerings. (*Weights indicate weight class)
The Callaway Golf Super Hybrid comes with a price tag of $399.99 per club. Look for the Epic Super Hybrid to hit the shelves and be available at retail on September 9th, 2021.
Features + Benefits
Epic Speed, Spin Robustness + Easy Launch – This is our fastest ball speed hybrid and there’s simply nothing else like it. That’s because we’ve developed an all-titanium Flash Face, along with a titanium body, and combined them with our Jailbreak A.I. Velocity Blades. Epic Super Hybrid delivers exceptional ball speed, distance, and launch.
High Launch, High MOI – There’s an extreme amount of tungsten weighting (up to 90 grams) split to the perimeter of the club; this provides increased stability, more forgiveness, and a hot penetrating ball flight.
Total Adjustability – We’ve provided complete adjustability with our lightweight OptiFit 3 Hosel, helping you dial in the ball flight and launch that you want to see. The addition of adjustable sole weighting allows for precise custom builds.
Until The Next Tee!!
