to use Ben Hogan Irons at Canadian Open
Fort Worth, Texas – July 24, 2018 – The iconic Ben Hogan Golf Equipment brand, founded in 1953 by one of the game’s greatest golfers, is back … in Canada. In timely fashion, 72 years after Ben Hogan captured his first and only professional victory in Canada – winning the Winnipeg Canadian Professional Golf Open in 1946 – and in conjunction with the 2018 RBC Canadian Open, the Ben Hogan Golf Equipment Company has introduced a complete line of new iron sets, wedges and accessories for golfers throughout Canada.
As part of its international re-launch, Ben Hogan Golf has created a unique factory-direct purchase and shipping program, whereby golfers throughout Canada can save significantly as compared to competitive products purchased through brick and mortar retail outlets.
Highlighting the 2018 Ben Hogan line of products are the new, re-engineered Ben Hogan Edge forged, game-enhancement irons, modeled after one of golf’s most successful iron sets and designed to provide the rare combination of ‘feel with forgiveness.’ In addition to the re-engineered Ben Hogan Edge irons, the complete 2018 line-up of Ben Hogan Golf products can be purchased exclusively at www.BenHoganGolf.com.
3-Time PGA Tour winner J.J. Henry will be teeing it up with Ben Hogan Irons as he competes in the RBC Canadian Open, July 26-29 at Glen Abbey GC, Oakville, Ontario.
“72 years ago Ben Hogan captured his only professional victory in Canada, so it is only fitting that we re-introduce the iconic brand to golfers prior to the 2018 RBC Canadian Open,” said Scott White, President & CEO, Ben Hogan Golf Equipment Company. “All Ben Hogan golf equipment … irons, wedges, hybrids and utility clubs … are hand-crafted, one at a time in our Fort Worth, Texas factory. This allows us to maintain exceptionally high quality control levels. Because we only sell directly to the consumer via our website, retail markup is eliminated. As a result, our tour-quality products cost about half of what competitive products would be priced at in a pro or retail shop. Even with international shipping costs factored in, customers throughout Canada will be able to buy Ben Hogan Golf Equipment at surprisingly affordable prices.”
Re-Engineered Ben Hogan Edge Irons
The original Ben Hogan Edge Irons, which were introduced thirty years ago, gained acclaim as the game’s preeminent ‘Game Enhancement’ irons. Many serious golfers played the Ben Hogan Edge Irons because they looked and felt like a player’s iron, but offered the same forgiveness and playability of an investment cast ‘game improvement’ iron designed for beginners and less skilled players.
In 2018, the Ben Hogan Edge Irons have been re-engineered with that same principle of providing exceptional feedback, as golfers can actually feel what they are doing, right or wrong, at impact, and minimize the effect of off-center hits. Now, golfers don’t have to choose between aesthetics and performance.
This feel principle is achieved through proven perimeter weighting technology, whereby engineers position weight around the edges or perimeter of the head to create more stability and forgiveness. Up until now, it has been nearly impossible for the golf industry to incorporate perimeter weighting into a single-piece forged iron. However, the Ben Hogan engineering team answered the challenge and constructed the new Ben Hogan Edge Irons using two separate forged parts. In achieving this innovation, the hosel and back frame are forged first, then the forged face is laser-welded into place. While difficult to manufacture, this process allowed the design team to create and deliver exceptional perimeter weighting inside the club head.
Additionally, highly engineered, hollow head construction allows the thickness of the club face to be varied throughout the set. The longer irons with stronger lofts have a very thin, yet strong face that promotes more distance, even on off-center hits struck on the toe or heel. The mid and short irons incorporate a progressively thicker face design which provides for a solid feel on scoring shots. As a result, and on average, the Ben Hogan Edge Irons are 12% larger than the tour-proven Ben Hogan PTx Irons. This creates a larger and more forgiving hitting area as shots that are struck closer to the toe or heel, or high or low on the face will perform much like they were hit on the sweet spot.
Also, the Ben Hogan Edge Irons are slightly offset. This provides more time for the hands to square up at impact. It also creates a steeper descent angle for higher shot trajectories that better hold the greens. A thicker top line creates an appearance of more mass in the club head which provides more confidence at address.
Further, enhanced V-Sole® Technology on the Ben Hogan Edge Irons benefits players of all skill levels. V-Sole Technology, which has long been a trademark of Ben Hogan irons and wedges, has been redesigned and ‘softened’ from sole to face, now combining a high bounce leading edge and low bounce trailing edge on the sole. This innovation minimizes ‘digging’ or ‘dragging’ to ensure solid impact, no matter the turf condition.
The longstanding Ben Hogan Precise Loft System has also been simplified in the new Ben Hogan Edge Irons. The Company remains committed to consistent 4-degree loft gaps between each iron for optimal distance gapping and to minimize loft ‘compression’ at the short end of the set.
As with all Ben Hogan irons, the Ben Hogan Edge Irons can be customized at no charge. Golfers can select specific lengths, lies, and grips (standard or mid-sized) as well as their choice of a variety of steel and graphite shafts.
True to the company’s innovative factory-direct distribution and pricing strategy, products like the Ben Hogan Edge Irons are shipped direct-to-consumers in Canada for $735.00 ($USD) per seven-piece set (#4 iron – Pitching Wedge). The Company offers a variety of Express and Expedited shipping options via both DHL Express and United Parcel Service (UPS) with guaranteed arrival to any destination in Canada in ten (10) days or less. Express and Expedited shipping costs vary by region, but tend to average between $80 and $140 ($USD) for a set of irons. The Company plans to introduce lower cost ‘Economy’ shipping options soon.
Ben Hogan Golf Company now provides short-term financing with NO interest, allowing golfers to pay for their new clubs over a period of time. And, players can Trade-UP their old equipment to offset the costs. Visit www.BenHoganGolf.com for more details.
